Traffic Notices

The City of Kyle provides traffic notices to keep residents and visitors informed about road work, closures, detours, and other activities that may affect travel. Each notice includes details about the project, anticipated impacts on drivers and pedestrians, and schedule updates as work progresses.

Check this page regularly to stay aware of changing conditions and plan your routes safely.

Cromwell Drive Closure and Detour

Beginning Tuesday, August 18, Cromwell Dr between Kohlers Crossing and the entrance/exit near Baylor Scott & White will be closed for waterline relocation associated with the future roadway improvements on Kohlers Crossing.

The closure is anticipated to last through Wednesday, September 9, 2026. The closure will remain in place at all times.

The left-turn lane onto Cromwell Dr will be closed for westbound traffic on Kohlers Crossing. Drivers will be detoured through the roundabout at Benner to travel eastbound on Kohlers Crossing. They will then turn right onto FM 1626, followed by a right turn onto Philip J. Duran Drive to access Cromwell Dr.

Vehicles traveling southbound on Cromwell Drive, north of Kohlers Crossing, may turn left onto Kohlers Crossing, then right onto FM 1626 to travel southbound, followed by a right turn onto Philip Je Duran to access Cromwell Dr.

Vehicles traveling northbound on Cromwell Dr will be redirected through the roundabouts to turn around and proceed toward the nearest signalized intersection at Dorman Lane. Drivers can then turn left onto FM 1626, followed by a left turn onto Kohlers Crossing.

Beginning Monday, August 10, drivers can expect intermittent lane closures on several roads throughout the City of Kyle as crews complete the 2026 Microsurfacing Project. The schedule below includes work dates, streets, and project limits.

Work hours will be 8 a.m. - 7 p.m., Monday - Saturday.

Because this is a fast-moving operation, lane closures will be limited to no more than four hours at a time. Drivers are asked to obey traffic signs, watch for flaggers and heavy equipment, and drive with caution.

Residents in affected areas will receive a door hanger from the contractor at least 24 hours before work begins, providing project details and contact information.

This detour began on June 17, 2026 and will run through October 31, weather permitting. Bebee Road will be temporarily closed at IH-35 as part of the 2022 Road Bond Program construction project.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured through the new IH-35/Kohlers Crossing intersection and along the Kohlers Crossing extension, reconnecting with Bebee Road west of Republic Drive. One lane in each direction will remain open to accommodate through traffic.

Access to Lakeside Crossing from Bebee Road will remain open during this phase of construction.

The work being done on Bebee Road includes widening it from two lanes to four with a center turn lane, the addition of drainage, curbs, and sidewalks along both sides.

Motorists may experience delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes when possible. Please follow all posted traffic control devices, watch for construction crews and equipment, and use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.

Starting July 13, 2026 and continuing through summer 2027, construction crews will be visible at the 5-way traffic stop at West Center Street and Old Stagecoach Road. Work includes potholing and building drainage improvements as part of the Center Street (Off-System) 2022 Road Bond Project. This work is independent and unaffected by ongoing intersection reevaluations.

All lanes will stay open, and traffic will not be impacted. Construction barrels along the edge of the road will mark relevant work zones. We ask that drivers increase their awareness and slow down in work zones. Construction zones protect workers, drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

A graphic that says 'TRAFFIC NOTICE' in call caps with Center Street (off-system) posted below with information on work being done at the 5-way all-stop at W. Center Street, N. Old Stagecoach Road, Cypress Road, and Pump House Road in Kyle.

Starting Friday, July 24 and going until Wednesday, October 28 Cypress Road from Old Stagecoach Road to Cold River Run will be closed for the developer-led installation of a force main wastewater line.

Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. During those times a detour and signage will be in place.

Individuals who live in the area will still be able to access their homes. Flagging operations will continue while the roadway is closed and the detour is in place; they will direct vehicle traffic for affected driveways and homes.

Drivers are asked to obey traffic signs, follow detours, watch for flaggers and heavy equipment, and drive with caution. This is a developer-led project being done by Cash Construction.

Starting Monday, August 17 there will be intermittent lane closures on westbound Kohlers Crossing between FM 1626 and Everett Street for the installation of a 24” water transmission main improvement project.

The improvements include the installation of a 6,300 linear feet of 24-inch and 30-inch main water line to supply additional water from the FM 1626 Pump Station site to a nearby well, ultimately supporting pressure planes and the City’s overall water supply and infrastructure.

At times, access to Cromwell Drive, Everett Street, Burnham, and Benner Road may be impacted but access to the Brick and Mortar district including the Hays CISD Performing Arts Center, Sprouts and other nearby businesses will be maintained.

A long-term lane closure in this section of Kohlers Crossing is scheduled to begin in November and will last through March.

Drivers should expect delays in the area and are asked to slow down, follow posted signs and detours, watch for workers and equipment, and use caution in the work zone.
