Transportation and Public Works
The Kyle Transportation and Public Works Department performs and oversees the transportation infrastructure of the city including professional engineering work related to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of City projects and programs including streets, sidewalks, facilities, and drainage. The department is also responsible for preparing engineering designs, reviewing engineering plans, and providing general engineering support to the development review process. Our staff is dedicated to professional service, timely response and meeting the needs of our residents.
The mission of the Kyle Transportation and Public Works Department is to enact a customer service culture in order to mange the creation, distribution, and maintenance of our public infrastructure that supports a desirable way of life for our citizens. We accomplish this through training and development of our staff so that we deliver effective, timely service that is focused on the customer.
Current Traffic Notices
The City of Kyle provides traffic notices to keep residents and visitors informed about road work, closures, detours, and other activities that may affect travel. Each notice includes details about the project, anticipated impacts on drivers and pedestrians, and schedule updates as work progresses. Transportation and Public Works Divisions
Office of the City Engineer
Kyle Engineering, under the direction of the City Engineer, performs and oversees professional engineering work related to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of City projects and programs.
The department is also responsible for preparing engineering designs, reviewing engineering plans, and providing general engineering support to the development review process.
Traffic and Transportation
The Traffic and Transportation Division manages the day-to-day operation, safety, and efficiency of Kyle’s streets and mobility network. The division oversees traffic signals, signs, and pavement markings, conducts traffic studies, and coordinates improvements that enhance travel for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians. Through planning and collaboration with local and regional partners, the division works to keep people moving safely and reliably across the city.
Streets and Drainage
The Streets and Drainage Division is responsible for the maintenance and improvement of the City of Kyle’s transportation and stormwater infrastructure. Through proactive street repairs, drainage system management, right-of-way services, and emergency response, the division ensures public safety, mobility, and resilience across the community.
Captial Improvements Program
The CIP Division oversees project management process, land acquisition process, and rotation list management. Our project manager manages CIP projects including water/wastewater, transportation, parks, and drainage. Check out our CIP Dashboard below and know what active projects are in your neighborhood!
Currently we have 4 rotation lists: General Civil, Geotech, Surveying, and Real Estate. Consultants on the rotation lists get assigned task orders to perform most of our engineering design and land acquisition work. Our division manages that work and ensures the quality of that work to our best abilities.
